These Foolish Things....

Soldering on.....

I love to craft...I love to take something old or something that to another eye is merely junk(really?) and transform it into something else,something that I at least find pleasing to the eye,or perhaps something that expresses how I feel,or even,just to make something that lets my imagination just run....

So...I discovered soldering,and all at once I am addicted! I am not great at it(still learning) and to be honest,its not that well known here in the UK,you American girls are much more in the know than we are! its finding the products that is tricky,a decent polish available in the UK anyone? bevelled glass? but I am finding my way.How do you think I am doing?

 

This last piece is not actually soldered art,but just something I made on card for fun! thats what its all about really,is'nt it?

Miss Pettigrew......

Oh Miss Pettigrew! how have we never met before!

You simply must read Miss Pettigrew lives for a day recently published again after a far too long abscence,and soon to be released as a Hollywood movie.

Winifred Watson wrote this charming tale in 1938,and was infact from my home town Newcastle upon Tyne! she never experienced great success in her lifetime,and indeed this was the only published book which received much attention. Miss P is a dowdy middle aged governess who gains a post with a glamorous cabaret singer, Miss LaFosse,the events which follow are both amusing and poignant,soon she is downing cocktails and doing all manner of things she previously frowned upon! This is a lovely Cinderella themed story,I cant wait for the movie to come out!

Thrifting Saturday

Well its been a bit of a week for me! One thing after another, nothing too bad although I did prang my new car(my fault) which set me off in floods of tears,but Hey ...nobody hurt thats the main thing,just my pride and my wallet!

So,today I felt in need of a little time out,to do what I really love,thrifting! so off I went to my Saturday flea market,Oh I tell you there is nothing like it! so here are some pics of my goodies,I love the hand tinted photo in the glass frame,I adore old photos,but my favourite thing has to be the Victorian jug on the right,hand painted with shabby pink roses and bearing the message'From a friend'
